Muppet Show AppearancesEdit

Rainbow.C

"Rainbow Connection" by Richard Amsel. 1979

The Rainbow Setpiece is closest in appearance to an unused Muppet Movie poster by Richard Amsel for 1979's The Muppet Movie.

The Rainbow Connection scene opens The Muppet Movie with Kermit sitting on a fallen log surrounded by swamp - an effect achieved by Jim Henson as he worked from an improvised diving bell. The Rainbow Connection set again appears in the closing scene of The Muppet Movie (featuring all 250 muppets!) and is quickly destroyed by Gonzo swinging from helium balloons.

Kermit goes on to sing the Rainbow Connection at the 52 academy awards, in a duet with Debbie Harry (The Muppet Show: Episode 502), on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and on many other occasions.

The world's most dangerous frog, Constantine, masters his impersonation of Kermit by watching The Muppet Movie and singing Rainbow Connection. Except for one thing: "the lovers, the dreamers and cheese". (Muppets: Most Wanted)
